Interested in Working With Above the Curve?
Hello Fearless Above the Curve members, family, and friends!
The board has been thinking a lot about all of you for a while, and we know you are itching for live theatre as much as we are. However, we still do not feel it is safe to do a live play at this time. We DO want to try to do something to quench that insatiable thirst for performing, so we are going to do a different style of show! Here is what we are looking to do:
We are going to produce a variety show with small scenes, monologues, and musical performances. The performances will be filmed, edited and shared with the community as one piece. This way we get the feel of performing with each other in person, but in small pods that feel safe with one another.
Here is what we need from you!
Writers:
1. We are looking for pieces that connect in some way to family gatherings or holidays--Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year, we are very open-minded.
2. They need to be simple sets (think not at the Christmas tree lighting in New York, but in a setting that is reasonable for a small pod to find and film).
3. It cannot contain copyright songs or locations (i.e they can't sing "Free Falling" outside a Burger King)
4. Scripts are due Friday October 8th
5. If you already have something, or want to write something for this specifically, let us know!
6. We are open to short scenes (no longer than 10 min), monologues, poems, etc. - have fun!
Actors/Actresses:
1. Individual actors/actresses that would be willing to be cast in something OR 2. Small pods of actors/actresses that feel safe working with each other in a film setting
3. Rehearsing and filming will take place between October 15th and November 12th, with the director and cast working together on a schedule that works for that small pod.
4. If you want to work in a pod you already know, let us know the details of that group, and/or if you want to be considered individually let us know, but please understand that there will be safety precautions asked of you.
Directors:
1. We are looking for reliable, creative directors who are willing to help film in person the script that they are directing.
2. Rehearsing and filming will take place between October 15th and November 12th, with the director and cast working together on a schedule that works for that small pod.
3. Let us know if you are interested in directing, and if so what types of pieces you are interested in.
Musical Performers:
1. Do you have an original song or a holiday themed song that is in the public domain that you would like to perform and film? This can be signing, instrumental, whatever you are interested in.
2. Performances will be due November 12th.
3. Email us to let us know what you want to do so we do not have multiple people performing the same number.
If you are interested in ANY of the above, please email us with what you are interested in doing. We will reply with a questionnaire to get more details on your interests as well as your comfort level in working with others.
